NOTICE OF VACANCIES ON THE SUPREME COURT COMMITTEES

SUPREME COURT OF NEW MEXICO

ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENTS TO THREE NEW COMMITTEES AND OTHER YEAR-END COMMITTEE VACANCIES

The Supreme Court of New Mexico is seeking applications for appointments to three new committees.  The Court also has decided to extend the deadline for applications to fill a number of year-end vacancies to some of the Court's other committees, boards, and commissions.  Anyone interested in applying for any of the committees discussed below should submit an application by November 10, 2017.

The Court has decided to create a new ad hoc rules committee upon the recommendation of the New Mexico Adult Guardianship Study Commission.  The new ad hoc committee will be charged with developing proposals for court rules and forms for guardianship and conservatorship proceedings.  Applications may be submitted by New Mexico attorneys, judges, and non-attorney members of the public who have experience with the New Mexico guardianship system.

The Court also has decided to create two, new standing rules committees to oversee the Rules of Civil Procedure and the Rules of Criminal Procedure for all state courts.  These two committees will replace six committees that have assisted the Court with this oversight responsibility in the past, namely the Rules of Civil Procedure for the District Courts Committee, Rules of Criminal Procedure for the District Courts Committee, Court of Limited Jurisdiction Rules Committee, Metropolitan Courts Rules Committee, Probate Courts Rules Committee, and Joint Committee on Rules of Procedure.

In addition to seeking applications for appointments to the three new rules committees discussed above, the deadline has been extended for applying to fill year-end vacancies on some of the Court's other committees, boards, and commissions as set forth below:

Children’s Court Rules Committee

Anyone interested in volunteering to serve on one or more of the foregoing committees, boards, or commissions may apply by sending a letter of interest and resume to Joey D. Moya, Chief Clerk, by mail to P.O. Box 848, Santa Fe, New Mexico 87504, by email to nmsupremecourtclerk@nmcourts.gov, or by fax to 505-827-4837.
